The Shield 304 Award is a monetary award established by the Lawton Firefighters Association in 2018 through an ongoing grant from the Riley J Manning Memorial Fund. The goal of The Shield 304 Award is to honor the memory of Mattawan Firefighter Cadet Riley J Manning by offering financial assistance to eligible individuals seeking educational opportunities or additional first responder training.
Just as Riley did not fit the mold, neither does The Shield 304 Award. Applicants will not only submit a completed application packet, but will also be subject to an in-person interview by the selection committee. The Award will be gifted directly to the recipient, as opposed to the educational institution or training center, to allow the recipient to use the award in a way that allows them the best opportunity to achieve the goals presented to the selection committee.
Eligibility: Any active member in good standing, honorary member, cadet, spouse or child of a member in good standing, honorary member or cadet of the Lawton Fire Department, Mattawan Fire Department, Lawton Quick Response Team or the Mattawan Quick Response Team.
How to Apply: Download the application packet found below, complete and submit packet with all required information to the Lawton Firefighters Association by the deadline of April 1st.
Notification: Recipients will be notified no later than May 15th.
